In the company of participants from diverse backgrounds, you will examine real-life problems in order to find sustainable and innovative solutions aimed at transforming society. Throughout this transdisciplinary co-creation experience, you will be accompanied and mentored by academic and field experts from the academic, municipal, community and business sectors. The summer school is :

  • 135 hours of intensive training (45 hours of training + 90 hours of personal work)

This program will allow you to develop various transversal skills that will be useful in all facets of your life, both professional and personal:
  • In-depth knowledge of the objectives of sustainable development and how to operationalize them
  • Master best practices in complex problem solving
  • Master best collaboration and communication strategies
  • Master the means to implement strategic action plans and understanding of their impacts
CIRODD's Summer School on Societal Transformation is intended for graduate university students as well as employees of public and governmental bodies who wish to actively contribute to the socio-ecological transformation of Quebec.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Have a good understanding of sustainable development (field of study, research or employment) and the sustainable development goals;
  • Experience in collaborative work and/or a strong desire to develop reflective and collaborative practices;
  • Be able to work and communicate in one of Canada's two official languages (English and French);
  • Be available to participate in activities, according to the Quebec time zone (EST);
  • Have access to a computer (or tablet) and a stable high-speed internet connection.


  • For students: the possibility of obtaining accreditation for graduate courses from Concordia University
  • For professionnal participants : this training meets the requirements of the "1% Act" for employee skills development (Skills Act) to which employers with a payroll exceeding $2 million are subject.
