Governance

Executive committee

The Executive committee (EC) prepares and submits to the Board of Directors the directions and progress of CIRODD’s scientific program, and its financial statements and budget forecasts. It follows up on the recommendations of the Board of Directors, and receives and approves the recommendations of the Scientific committee and the Joint steering committee. It weighs in on decisions concerning the allocation of resources and the activities of the implementation team.

Board of Directors

The Board of Directors (BOD) is responsible for the group’s strategic orientations and for approving the development plan, the budget, the scientific program, and the communication plan presented by the Executive committee. The BOD is chaired by the Director of faculty affairs, research and partnerships of the managing institution; it is comprised of representatives of the five partner institutions with the most co-researchers, the Director General, and the Executive Director.

Scientific committee

The Scientific committee (SC) oversees the scientific program, the vitality of inter- and transdisciplinary collaboration, the composition of the membership, the scientific quality of research and the training of highly qualified personnel (HQP), and the group’s international scientific outreach. Through its scientific and training-related recommendations, it contributes to CIRODD’s major strategic orientations and objectives.

Joint steering committee

The role of the Joint steering committee (JSC) is to act as a bridge with the non-academic community. It identifies emerging areas of interest for the development of the CIRODD and opportunities for scientific collaboration with partners and stakeholders. It advises the Executive committee on the operationalization of the scientific program. It participates in the identification of priority actions, provides input on potential sources of funding, and shares good practices for knowledge transfer in the target settings. Through its recommendations on knowledge transfer, outreach, popularization, and partnership research, it contributes to the major strategic directions and objectives of CIRODD.

SDG student committee

The mission of CIRODD’s SDG student committee is to raise awareness for the content and issues of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) among the group’s student members; however, its activities are also open to the general public. To do so, the committee organizes various themed activities (webinars, roundtables, seminars) and partners with other student organizations and associations with missions focused on sustainable development, resilience and ecological transition. It focuses on three research axes: sectoral (deployment of SDG within the main sectors of Québec’s economy); interdisciplinary (the significance of SDG across various fields and activity sectors); and critical (critical assessment of SDG in light of 21st-century challenges).
